On June 12, the first meeting of the Republican Council for International Ratings and Indexes chaired by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T.Narbaeva was held in the form of the videoconference.
Issues related to the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On improving the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international ratings and indices and the introduction of a new mechanism of systematic work with government agencies and organizations” were discussed in the meeting.
It was noted that the priority international ratings and indices serve as a “compass” in the life of the country, which allows to determine the quality and effectiveness of ongoing reforms and predict future steps.
In this regard, the issue of strengthening the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international ratings and indices is currently being addressed at the state level, and a legal and institutional framework is being formed.
In particular, over the past three years, 13 decrees and resolutions of the President have been adopted to enhance the country’s position in the international ratings and indices in the socio-economic, political and legal spheres.
7 action plans to improve the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international ratings and indices have been approved. Additionally, in collaboration with relevant ministries and departments, research institutes, the analysis of the methodologies for calculating international ratings, the factors that contribute to the assessment of Uzbekistan are being studied.
Cooperation has been established with the majority of international and foreign organizations that conduct international ratings and indices.
During the meeting, information on the work accomplished by responsible bodies of the Council on ratings and indices in the socio-economic and political-legal spheres, the existing problems, issues hindering Uzbekistan from improving positions in international rankings and indices and suggestions to achieve further positive results was presented. The current position of our country in international ratings was analyzed in detail.
Meanwhile, the activities of the ministries and agencies responsible for achieving the key performace indicators (KPIs) in the relevant ratings and indices of the Decree were critically reviewed and future tasks were identified.
The most essential issues that local authorities face in improving the position of Uzbekistan in international ratings and indices were considered.
Following the meeting, specific instructions were given to increase the role of research institutions of the country in studying the existing problems in the areas assessed in international ratings and indices and to develop science-based proposals to address them.

One of the main criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the work accomplised by responsible government agencies is to improve the country’s position in the international ratings and indices, which is a priority for the Republic of Uzbekistan
